4/9/18: United Airlines is Back at the Elmira Corning Regional Airport
BIG FLATS, NY - Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli and the Elmira Corning Regional Airport Director of Aviation Bill Hopper are excited to welcome United Airlines back to the Elmira Corning Regional Airport. Beginning today, United will offer two daily departures to its hub at New York/Newark Liberty International Airport. “With the new United service added to the existing services on Delta and Allegiant, and the new terminal scheduled for completion this October, Elmira Corning Regional Airport now offers the most complete air service in the Twin Tiers and southern Finger Lakes with the most unique terminal for an airport of this size”, says Bill Hopper. “If you weren’t able to get somewhere prior to United beginning service, visit FlyELM.com and see that starting today you can probably get to where you want to go. Starting October 31, you can relax in an outdoor courtyard with free wifi while you wait to board your flight!”
Flights will depart from the Elmira Corning Regional Airport at 6:00 AM and 5:51 PM. Flights will depart from Newark Liberty International Airport at 4:00 PM and 8:55 PM. Flights will be approximately just over an hour.
“We are excited to offer two new daily departures to our valued customers traveling between Elmira’s Corning Regional Airport and our New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Jill Kaplan, United’s President of New York and New Jersey. “We’ve timed these flights for customers to be able to then connect to more than 60 business and leisure destinations in the U.S. and more than 20 international locations.”
The success of attracting United Airlines was very much the result of the business community’s efforts. ELM reached out to the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce to mobilize leaders of the business community in Chemung County as well as our neighbors in Steuben and Schuyler counties, resulting in pledged support from 18 business leaders. This support ultimately convinced United that ELM is a smart addition to their network. ELM and Chemung County are very appreciative of the support.
"The Chemung County community is very excited United Airlines will be coming to the Elmira Corning Regional Airport to provide nonstop jet service to Newark Liberty International Airport. This is especially good news to both our passengers who fly for business or pleasure. This announcement comes as we complete at $14 million airfield upgrade and construct our new $58 million terminal. It's important to note that the business community played a vital role in attracting United and we couldn't have done it without their participation," says Tom Santulli, Chemung County Executive.
United Airlines and United Express operate approximately 4,500 flights a day to 338 airports across five continents. In 2017, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 148 million customers. United is proud to have the world's most comprehensive route network, including U.S. mainland hubs in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark/New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. 8/10/2017: Construction Begins On ELM Airport Terminal Project
BIG FLATS - The Elmira Corning Regional Airport (ELM) is excited to announce the start of the major Terminal Revitalization project. Construction on the $58M renovation project began this past week. The new design will transform the user experience, using open-air landscaped courtyards and extensive glass walls that create a sense of walking through the woods. The expanded terminal will also offer additional amenities and a more efficient flow for travelers.
The airport and terminal will be fully operational during construction with reconfiguration of the floor plan that will be noticeable to those familiar with ELM. The first major area of the terminal construction will be open by July 2018 and the entire terminal building will open by October 2018. During this time, please plan to arrive an additional 20 minutes earlier than normal.
During Construction, the short-term parking will have approximately half the available spots it currently has. During this period, we ask that there be no overnight parking in the short-term parking lot. Unfortunately, during this period, we will not be able to offer the short-term parking lot privileges that Pass Plus Members enjoy. Once the short-term lot is brought back to its present configuration, we will be happy to reinstate this Pass Plus Membership privilege.
