Chemung County Department of Social Services Community Navigators are here to assist you in Navigating the world of DSS, as well as the abundant Community Resources.

Having a hard time, confused and unsure of what your next step is? Reach out to one of your Chemung County Department of Social Services Community Navigators to assist you push through life’s little bumps. Our Mission is to be a responsive provider of efficient and effective services; to have a professional atmosphere that promotes respect for all and earns the confidence and trust of those we serve; including the community at large.

Our Vision is to assist individuals, children and families in achieving optimal self- reliance by providing tools to create an economically stable, healthy and safe environment.

We can assist you with your questions related to:

 DSS Applications  Evictions/Homelessness
 Shelter  Food
 Transportation  Childcare
 Elderly Care  Work Readiness
 Workforce  Drug and Alcohol Addiction
 Domestic Violence  Medicaid

And a variety of other needs.

Back to School Event - August 29th, 2019 - Elmira Community Kitchen
37 haircuts were done by BOCES Students
216 backpacks were distributed to pre-registered kids, plus 69 walk-ins for a total of 285 backpacks given out
Over 200 dinners were served by The Knights of Columbus and Social Ministry Volunteers at the Elmira Community Kitchen
