Mike served the residents of Chemung County as the Director of Fire and Emergency Management for 23 years. During his tenure as Director, he implemented the enhanced 911 Services, and consolidated police and fire communications into a single E911 answering point. He was responsible for the administration of millions of dollars in State and Federal Homeland Security Grants which provided a completely re-engineered radio communication system for all fire and police agencies as well as enhanced emergency response equipment. While serving as Director of the Chemung County Office of Fire and Emergency Management, Mike managed the response to numerous federally declared disasters resulting in the recovery of millions of dollars in damage costs for local governments. He also worked cooperatively with various state agencies and counties to develop the first New York State Guidance Document for School Safety Planning. Mike is a past President of the New York State Emergency Management Association, past Board Member of the Chemung County Solid Waste Management District, and a life member and past Chief of the Southport Fire Department. Mike served the residents of Southport for twelve years as a member of the Southport Town Board, with ten years as Deputy Supervisor.
