Overview
The Chemung County LEPC was created in 1986 after state legislation required each county in New York to form an LEPC. The goal of the LEPC is to address hazardous materials issues for a safer community. Members include a wide variety of public servants, representatives from local industries and members of the public. While these committees are still concerned with hazardous material issues, the trend across New York State is to take an "All-Hazards" approach to planning. The LEPC now discusses issues of flooding and other natural disasters, as well as man-made hazards. Quarterly meetings are open to the public.
SARA TITLE II SUBMISSIONS
Chemung County, New York LEPC accepts ePlan as a valid submission and no follow up copies to the County Emergency Management Office are needed. Go to www.erPlan.net. Fire Departments in Chemung County may also accept this submission. We encourage you to reach out to your local fire department with submission inquires and to build a relationship with the department before an emergency occurs. NY State SERC will also accept submissions via the single ePlan entry. Please consider adding a site map showing where the chemicals are located and all unique MSDS to your Attachments, and labeling your address from the street and buildings so that First Responders can identify them quickly.
