The Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care will hold its Annual Public Hearing on Thursday, February 2nd, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Meals on Wheels Chemung County Event Center, 409 William Street, Elmira, NY.
This Public Hearing regards the Chemung County Area Plan on Aging, funded under various titles of the Older Americans Act of 1965, and the importance of understanding New York State Elder Law. This is an opportunity for community members to influence the services available to support older adults living independently in their community. At this public Hearing, Dept. of Aging Contract Attorney John Maloney will give a detailed presentation on Elder Law.
Opportunities will be provided for participants to share ideas, questions, and concerns regarding needs and services for older adults, people of all ages needing long-term care services and support, and their families and caregivers.
A community Needs Assessment Survey will be used to gather information important to older adults for the completion of the next Chemung County Department of Aging Four-Year Plan. This survey can be completed in person on the day of the Public Hearing or online using the following link: https://forms.chemungcountyny.gov/CommunitySurveyOFA/.
Chemung County Department of Aging and NY Connects staff will be available to share information about our services and supports, including eligibility screenings, application assistance for Medicare Savings Programs, and Extra Help paying for Medicare prescription drug coverage. Geroulds Healthcare Center and AARP Local Chapter #276 will also have information available. Light refreshments will be provided.
