“2023 Chemung County Senior Games Begin May 23rd”
The 2023 Chemung County Senior Games are scheduled for May 23rd through June 16th. They will include softball, pickleball, golf, shuffleboard, bocce, bowling, corn hole (bean bag toss), and many more events for participants aged 50 and over at sites throughout the county. There is a nominal $10 fee necessary to participate, and the first 500 athletes will receive a Senior Game T-Shirt. Last year nearly 400 athletes came from as far away as Tully and from throughout New York State as well as Pennsylvania to participate in our Senior Games.
On Friday, June 16th, a Field Day and Picnic at the Harris Hill Youth Camp is available for registered participants. There will be several "Just for Fun" events, including horseshoes, corn holes, miniature golf, and more. In addition, there will be agencies on hand participating in a health and wellness information fair. Not to mention a delicious picnic! There is an additional $10 fee for this event, which includes all the just-for-fun events, a gift bag, and raffle items, as well as the picnic.
For anyone interested in participating in the games, the event schedule and applications are available by mail or online at www.chemungcountyny.gov or on our Facebook page, Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care or call Carol Morton at (607) 737-5524 or email cmorton@chemungcountyny.gov.
