Chemung County has received a Hazard Mitigation Grant to complete the required five-year update of the Chemung County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This is a very important plan for all the municipalities AND OUR RESIDENTS because it keeps us eligible for mitigation grant funding programs from both New York State and the Federal government.
A PUBLIC MEETING will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 5:30PM, at the Town of Horseheads Town Hall, 150 Wygant Road, Horseheads. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to provide a project overview and solicit information from citizens. Public input will help the project team to identify and analyze potential natural hazards affecting residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact. Hazards will include floods, tornadoes, severe summer and winter storms, landslide, climate change and high hazard dams.
If you cannot attend public meetings, information about the planning process and public participation surveys will be published on the Chemung County website.
