“Santulli Appoints New Department Heads”
ELMIRA – Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli announces the appointment of two new department heads for the new year. Jennifer Stimson has been selected as the new Commissioner of Human Services following the retirement of Deretha Watterson. Watterson retired on December 31, 2013 after thirty-one years of service in the Department of Social Services. John Brennan will be appointed as the new Public Advocate succeeding Richard Rich who was sworn in as County Court Judge on January 1st.
Stimson began her career in the Department of Human Services in 2007 as the Director of Administrative Services. As a Certified Public Accountant, she has also served as the department's controller and as Deputy Commissioner. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from SUNY Binghamton. Stimson was appointed Commissioner effective January 1, 2014 at an annual salary of $97,000.
Brennan started at the Public Advocates Office as a Law Intern in 2004 while completing his law degree at Syracuse University College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Syracuse University. He has been employed as an Assistant Public Advocate since August of 2006. Pending Legislature approval he will be appointed effective January 1, 2014 at an annual salary of $75,000.
