We just completed our 14th annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event, which is one of, if not the only grass roots suicide prevention walks in New York State. We had approximately 2500 attendees. We ask for anyone who wishes to donate $15, then we will provide them with a t-shirt and lunch, but it is far more important that they simply join us in support of this public health issue. We raised over $45,000 again this year, and are able to put all of the net proceeds back into local suicide prevention efforts.
Vitamin L, a local all children’s choir from Tompkins County comes and sings songs with positive messaging including a song coincidently enough named Walk A Mile In My Shoes. I have attached a few pictures from this year’s event including that of our Hope Garden where we plant fresh flowers twice year.
Mark your calendar for next years walk on May 2, 2020 our 15th year celebration!
