The Chemung County Department of Public Works will be hosting a Public Hearing for the Route 13 Connector Road Project on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the Horseheads American Legion Post 442, located at 71 Old Ithaca Road. The proposed Route 13 Connector Road is an important and key infrastructure development component for the continued economic sustainability of the Horseheads community. The Project includes construction of a new road connecting the HOST facility area to State Route 13, Newtown Creek levee improvements and certification, upgraded railroad crossings on Wygant Road, a dedicated turn lane on Wygant Road at State Route 14, and potential corridor and pavement improvements along Old Ithaca Road.
An informational presentation and open house will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm to familiarize the public with the project. During this time representatives of the County, the State and the County’s consultant design team will be available to review plans and answer questions about the project. The official public hearing will begin at 7:00 pm. During this time the public will be invited to make recorded statements that will be entered in the project record. Written statements will also be accepted. All comments will be reviewed and considered in preparation of the final project design report. This hearing is being held to comply with Title 23, US Code Section 128 and Title 40, Code of Federal Regulation, Parts 1500 and 1508, Article 8 of the New York State Environmental Conservation Law; and Article 2 of the Eminent Domain Procedure Law.
Copies of the draft project design report for public review are currently available at the Town of Horseheads Clerk’s Office, the Chemung County Department of Public Works Office, and online at https://www.erdmananthony.com/Rt13ConnectorRoad. Once the official meeting transcript and exhibits are available, they, along with the project determination and final design report, will be available at the Chemung County Clerk’s Office and Chemung County Department of Public Works Office.
