ELMIRA - The City of Elmira Department of Public Works will be hosting a Public Information Meeting for the Lake Street Pedestrian Bridge Project on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Community Arts of Elmira, located at 413 Lake St. This project is a Locally Administered Federally Funded project slated for construction in 2020. The purpose of the meeting is to familiarize the public about the project, the project’s benefits and potential impacts. Representatives of the City, County, State and the City’s consultant design team will be available to discuss the project and gather comments.
The objective of this project is to rehabilitate the currently close Lake Street Bridge into a pedestrian and bicycle bridge, connecting the north and south sides of Elmira, as well as Brand Park and the Lackawanna trail, and also create a gathering space for community events, concerts, and public use. The meeting will review the project process, funding sources, the decision to transform it into a pedestrian bridge, and ultimately, the current concept. In conjunction with the adjacent business owners, the project team has narrowed the design down to one preferred concept, and would like feedback from the community. The meeting format consists of an open house from 4:00 – 5:00, with a presentation at 5:00, and time for questions and conversation for the remainder of the time.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like more information, please contact City of Elmira’s project manager, Elissa Manwaring, at (607) 739-3896; or e-mail her at email@example.com.
