As a result of recent storm events, the Chemung County Department of Public Works will be replacing two large culverts on County Route #29, Dry Run Road, in Pine City. Replacement of both culverts requires the road to be closed to traffic for the duration of construction.
The first closure, approximately ½ mile north of CR #69, Pennsylvania Avenue, will begin on Monday, September 10, and last approximately three weeks.
The second closure, CR #29 at Left Branch Dry Run Road, will begin immediately upon the completion of the first project and will last approximately five weeks.
There will be no posted detour. Drivers are advised to travel south to CR #69 or north to CR #36 (Dutch Hill Road) to reach their destinations. We ask that you drive carefully, and provide extra time to reach your destination during the closure periods.
The Town of Southport, Elmira City School District Transportation, & Pine City School have each been advised of the closures so they can make alternate arrangements for service and provide notice to families and residents along Dry Run Road.
Please contact the Department of Public Works at (607) 739-3896 with any questions.
