Aging & Long Term Care
Department Overview
Chemung County Executive Christopher Moss, the City and Town of Elmira, the Town of Big Flats, and the Town of Southport have committed to being an Age-Friendly Community, engaging us in an ongoing process to encourage active and healthy aging. Developing our age-friendliness provides an opportunity to enhance the wellbeing of all county residents, increase the ability of older adults to contribute to the community while reducing costly healthcare needs, and provides a marketing tool to attract and retain business and people of all ages. Contact us to find out how you can help and how we can help you!
Mission
Our mission is to help Chemung County residents age together with independence, opportunity and dignity through coordinated and cost-effective policies and services that support and empower older adults, people of all ages in need of long term care, and their families and caregivers.
Vision
Our vision is to create an environment that enables Chemung County residents to be as healthy and independent as possible for as long as possible.
Funding
The Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care is funded by Chemung County, New York State Office for the Aging, the Older Americans Act and participant donations. New York State Office for the Aging webpage can be accessed by clicking here.
